George Raymond Brown was born in the small town of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, which is just about 35 miles north east of Pittsburgh. He was born to Joel and Elsie Brown, and had an older and younger sister, Alice and June. For 3 months before enlisting, he was a student and had worked as a janitor.
